From Henry Cavill to Regé-Jean Page, the James Bond shortlist has plenty of big names vying for the role of 007, and now another young British actor has thrown his hat into the ring. Speaking recently with Variety, 1917 star George MacKay responded positively when a journalist suggested he could be the next Bond saying “Manifest it.” However, he does state that he has no idea “where it’s at” when it comes to casting the next 007.

“Manifest it. I don’t know. I don’t know what they’re thinking. It sort of pops up now and again in the news, isn’t it? ‘Oh, such and such is going to be it.’ And then who knows where it’s at.”

MacKay has received recognition for his performances in the likes of Pride, Captain Fantastic, True History of the Kelly Gang, Munich – The Edge of War, and former Bond director Sam Mendes’ 1917. Having also been the recipient of various awards, MacKay clearly has the acting chops to bring James Bond to life in whatever form the reboot eventually takes.

“I can only really talk about the things I’m going to show and tell. So, The Fall Guy, Nosferatu, Kraven the Hunter. I don’t feel like I need to have a future drawn out for me. I feel like, whatever’s drawn out for me, I can f**ing do better.”

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Has the Blessing of Two Former James Bond Actors

While MacKay may have the backing of Variety, Taylor-Johson has been given the blessing of not one, but two former James Bond actors in George Lazenby and Pierce Brosnan. “I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so.”
