2025 Oscars Predictions:
Best Original Screenplay
Weekly Commentary (Updated August 8, 2024)Originality often plays a significant role in this category, which often coincides with the Best Picture race.
Sean Baker may finally get recognition for his dark comedy “Anora.” Meanwhile, the World War II epic “Blitz” and the musical “Emilia Perez” are likely to be at the forefront of voters’ minds.
The deciding factor in this race is Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night,” a retelling of the first episode of NBC’s long-running “Saturday Night Live” with a stellar cast. Reitman hasn’t been nominated since his work on “Juno” (directing) and “Up in the Air” (twice nominated for best screenplay and best director). Could this be his year to return to the awards circuit?
More is coming.
