Los Angeles Dodgers fans lined up for hours Wednesday as the Major League Baseball team unveiled “Shohei Otani’s Official Muppet Night.” Forty thousand lucky fans got a chance to get a limited-edition Muppet featuring the Dodgers MVP and his dog, Decoy.
According to reports, the Otani rocking dolls sold out quickly, with some people even posting their rocking dolls on eBay before the game was even over. As of this writing, there were more than 1,500 results for “Otani rocking doll” on eBay, with prices starting at $150.
So why all the demand? Of course, Otani is one of the most popular athletes not just in baseball, but in all sports. And Wednesday’s gift didn’t just include the designated pitcher/hitter in a bouncy doll — it also included a handle on his dog, Decoy. The Dodgers also handed out limited-edition souvenirs.
