Joey Chestnut defeated Takeru Kobayashi in a Netflix hot dog eating contest in Las Vegas, Nevada on Monday.
Two of the world’s most famous hot dog eaters, Chestnut and Kobayashi, competed in a 10-minute hot dog eating contest on Labor Day. Chestnut ate 83 hot dogs and a bun, breaking the previous world record of 76, which he set in 2021. Meanwhile, Kobayashi ate 66 hot dogs, surpassing his personal best of 64.5 set in 2009.
The live event, which was announced as “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef” and streamed live on Netflix, took place at the Hyper X Arena at Luxor in Las Vegas. The event was hosted by actor Rob Riggle and former WWE Superstar Nikki Garcia.
The competition rules stated that Chestnut and Kobayashi could not dip or pour water on the hot dog and bun, could not separate the hot dog from the bun, and had 30 seconds to finish whatever was left in their mouths after the 10-minute time limit was up.
Chestnut won $100,000 and received a custom WWE Championship belt, presented to him by professional wrestler Rey Mysterio.

Chestnut's last encounter with Kobayashi was in 2009, when Chestnut emerged victorious.
Chestnut has won the annual Nathan's Fourth of July Contest 16 times, and has won the past eight years in a row. Earlier this year, Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island banned Chestnut from participating in the Fourth of July contest after he signed a deal with plant-based food company Impossible Foods.
Kobayashi is a six-time Nathan champion, winning the championship six consecutive times in the early 2000s.
