Harry Potter HBO Show Begins Casting Harry, Ron, Hermine


The search for the next Harry, Ron and Hermione has begun.

HBO has opened up nominations for three stars of its upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series. Fans spotted the call for nominations online Monday, and HBO confirmed its authenticity. diverse.

The casting call is looking for children aged 9-11 in April 2025, who are residents of the UK and Ireland. The notice also states that the casting will be inclusive of all genders, ethnicities and sexual identities.

“We are committed to inclusive and diverse casting,” the announcement reads. “For each role, please submit qualified actors, regardless of race, sex, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis protected by law unless specifically stated otherwise.”

The cast is required to submit two short tapes of themselves, including a short poem or story — but nothing from “Harry Potter.”

“Please prepare a short poem or story of your choice. It can be from a favorite book, a poem you love, a monologue from a play or something you’ve written. Please, no Harry Potter stuff. Please use your own accent. 30 seconds max!” the casting call reads. The second self-tape is “a short video telling us a little bit about yourself, including your date of birth, height and where you live. Additionally, please describe any family members, friends or pets you are particularly close to. Please use your own accent. 1 minute max.”

The deadline for submissions is Oct. 31, and the casting call says the series will be filmed in the U.K. in 2025 and 2026. No release date has been set for HBO yet. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said on an earnings call in February that the series is targeting a 2026 release date.

Francesca Gardiner, who produced “Succession,” “His Dark Materials” and “Killing Eve,” will serve as showrunner and executive produce the “Harry Potter” series. Her “Succession” co-star Mark Mylod will executive produce and direct several episodes.
