CAA’s Roeg Sutherland to Receive Game Changer Award

Roger Sutherland, co-president of CAA’s media finance division and co-president of the international film group, will be honored with the Game Changer Award for “outstanding achievements and contributions to the film industry” at the Zurich Summit, which will take place in October during the 20th Zurich Film Festival.

FilmNation Entertainment CEO Glenn Basner will host the Game Changer Award-winning conversation, where he will speak with Sutherland about his career.

“Rogge is a film enthusiast and industry pioneer who has not only discovered and developed the careers of countless artists, but in the past few years he has secured financing and sales of some of the most important critically acclaimed films, both domestically and internationally,” said Christian Jungen, Artistic Director of the Zurich Film Festival.

“His impressive client list includes Oscar winners, nominees and authors like Nadine Labaki, with whom he signed a contract by flying to Lebanon specifically to meet the director of Capernaum in person – one of my favourite stories about Rogge that highlights his commitment and dedication.

“From early on, Rog has been an integral part of the Zurich Film Festival and its history by convincing his extensive network to attend our summit, and creating strong relationships and connections between us and Hollywood, as we steadily grew in scope and prestige.

“Like Rogge, we at the Zurich Film Festival pride ourselves on discovering emerging filmmakers, and since we share the same desire, it is fitting that he is the worthy recipient of our awards during our 20th anniversary edition.”

Sutherland, who serves on the CAA Board of Directors, specializes in packaging and representation of independently financed film, television and digital content. Additionally, he consults with producers and financiers on their media investments. In the past five years alone, films packaged and/or sold by CAA Media Finance have grossed nearly $5 billion at the worldwide box office.

More will follow.
