Donald Trump wasn't the only one warning Taylor Swift that her endorsement of Kamala Harris in the presidential election could hurt her sales. Megyn Kelly launched a blistering attack on the singer, telling her: “You can kiss your Republican sales goodbye, Taylor; I hope you enjoyed it while you were at it.” Trump said Swift would “pay a price in the marketplace” for her endorsement.
Swift endorsed Harris for president shortly after the first Trump-Harris debate. The singer released a statement saying she was “thrilled and impressed” by Harris's decision to select Tim Walz as her running mate. “Walz has been an advocate for LGBT rights, IVF, and women's rights to their own bodies for decades.” The comment angered Kelly deeply.
“I’m allowed to criticize Taylor Swift and I don’t care who gets offended. It’s disgusting,” Kelly said on her SiriusXM talk show. “If she wants to vote for Harris-Walz, she can do whatever she wants, but to say that the reason she did it is because of Tim Wallz’s stance on the LGBT community… go to hell, Taylor Swift. And go to hell with all the people who want to see these kids get their body parts cut off and watch them get sterilized before they reach adulthood and then ride off to their multi-billion dollar mansions and never think about them again.”
“This couple, Taylor and her boyfriend Travis Kelce, are the embodiment of the arrogant elite,” Kelly added. “They’re both billionaires. She doesn’t care what happens to these kids, just as he doesn’t care what happens to all the young people who take the Pfizer booster shot he’s promoting.”
In her endorsement of Kamala Harris, Swift praised the current vice president, writing that she “fights for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to defend. I think she is a talented and steady leader and I think we can accomplish a lot in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election,” Swift continued. “I will be voting for Kamala Harris because she is fighting for rights and issues that I think need a warrior to fight for. I think she is a talented and steady leader and I think we can accomplish a lot in this country if we have calm leadership and not chaos.”
Walz responded to Swift's endorsement by saying he was “very grateful.” He encouraged Swift to visit Harris' website to learn more about how to support the campaign.
