BLACKPINK's Lisa made her solo debut at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, performing two of her recent songs, “New Woman” and “Rockstar.”
Paris Hilton hosted the show, with Lisa opening the show by spitting out the lyrics to “New Woman” in a red leather two-piece. After performing a hot-chair dance routine with her dancers, the singer and rapper brought her dance moves to the middle of the runway, where she performed on a moving platform.
After moving into “Rockstar,” Lisa performed the fiery song amid flames lining the stage and more than a dozen dancers surrounding her. “I'm a rock star, I'm a rock star. It ain't about the hype, baby, that makes you rock solid,” she says in the song.
Lisa previously performed at the 2022 VMAs with BLACKPINK when the K-pop stars made their award show debut with a performance of “Pink Venom.” That same year, Lisa made history as the first solo K-pop star to win the Moon Person Award—Best K-pop Song for “Lalisa”—while BLACKPINK took home their second VMA, Best Metaverse Performance for “Lalisa.” Blackpink: The VirtualThe group previously won Song of the Summer in 2020 for “How You Like That,” while in 2023, they took home Best Group and Best Choreography for “Pink Venom.”

Lisa made her solo debut in 2021 with “Lalisa” and its accompanying single “Money.” In the three years since, she has focused heavily on working with Blackpink as they recorded, released, and toured in support of their 2022 album. Lisa will make her first solo music festival appearance later this month when she takes the stage at Global Citizen 2024 in New York City on September 28. The lineup also includes Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Doja Cat and Raw Alejandro.
Along with all of her musical endeavors, Lisa has also been busy filming her acting debut on season three of white lotusNo details about her character have been revealed yet, and the premiere date of the successful series has not been revealed.
