Shogun It was a tough field this year.surrounded by prestigious period drama (The Crown, The Golden Age), beloved big-budget sci-fi shows (3 Body Problems, Consequences), and the critically acclaimed drama on Apple TV+ (Morning program and slow horses). It’s also a bilingual series with no major financial backing from HBO or Netflix. Furthermore, it’s a remake of a previous series, and remakes have rarely won major awards. So it’s impressive that this show, in just its first season, has garnered nearly 20 Emmys.

Which is great—he’s a powerful actor who’s spent decades in action and drama, and he’s given some great performances.
