Emmy Award-winning lead actors for the Shōgun series: Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai

Shogun It was a tough field this year.surrounded by prestigious period drama (The Crown, The Golden Age), beloved big-budget sci-fi shows (3 Body Problems, Consequences), and the critically acclaimed drama on Apple TV+ (Morning program and slow horses). It’s also a bilingual series with no major financial backing from HBO or Netflix. Furthermore, it’s a remake of a previous series, and remakes have rarely won major awards. So it’s impressive that this show, in just its first season, has garnered nearly 20 Emmys.

Perhaps the most satisfying of all these victories was that of the famous Japanese actor. Hiroyuki Sanada Award for Best Lead Actor in a Drama SeriesWhich gives him more international exposure than ever before. Which is great—he’s a powerful actor who’s spent decades in action and drama, and he’s given some great performances. Before he won an Emmy for his role in “Iron Man,” ShogunIt can be said that the greatest title he received was John Wick: Chapter 4. Watch our interview with Sanada (and co-star Shamier Anderson) from the film below:

In addition, Shogun She won Best Actress in a Leading Role for Anna Suai.which has rapidly gained worldwide popularity in recent years. Before ShogunYou've embodied one of the greatest characters in the surprisingly multifaceted MonsterVerse series, King: Legacy of MonstersYou can watch our interview with Sawai for this show here.
