Agatha All Along First Reaction Praise Kathryn Hahn’s Marvel Return

Kathryn Hahn is back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the witch Agatha Harkness, and the press seems to be thrilled. “Agatha All Along,” the nine-episode series that serves as a sequel to 2021’s “WandaVision,” is being called “a very enjoyable” and “a charming follow-up” in early reviews.

Daniel Baptista, host of The Movie Podcast, described Hahn's performance as “charming” and “deliciously beguiling.”

“[‘Agatha All Along’] “This is the perfect show for the horror season, full of big witch energy,” Baptista wrote on X/Twitter. “Kathryn Hahn is as creative as ever and delivers a deliciously sly and charming performance. Joe Locke is a scene stealer. This is the most fun show you’ll enjoy this year.”

Michael Patterson of Bam Smack Pow said the series is “absolutely insane in all the right ways”.

“Kathryn Hahn is a powerhouse, playing Agatha Harkness as we all expected. The rest of the cast is great, and Joe Locke is a gem. He's vibrant, quirky, and wonderful,” Patterson wrote on X.

Many viewers also praised Joe Locke and Aubrey Plaza's performances in “Agatha All Along.”

ScreenRant's Joseph Decklemeier wrote on X: “The first four episodes are a great mix of Hocus Pocus and The Wizard of Oz, with a touch of horror and a lot of comedy. This series is very fun and engaging. It has the same charming vibe as WandaVision. I absolutely love the cast that portrays Coven, Kathryn Hahn is great and Aubrey Plaza is great.”

Marvel has outdone itself with [‘Agatha All Along’]“It’s an absolutely charming sequel to WandaVision with plenty of fun Easter eggs along the way for fans,” said Cody Schultz of FanSided. “Kathryn Hahn’s performance is perfect, Joe Locke is creative and the entire ensemble is amazing. One of Marvel’s best!”

Agatha All Along picks up after the events of WandaVision, where Agatha (Hahn) has been rendered powerless by the Scarlet Witch, also known as Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). On a mission to regain her magical powers, Agatha creates a makeshift coven of her own, but not all the members are of the same mind. Joining Hahn on Agatha are Luke, Patti LuPone, Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ann and Debra Jo Rupp. WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaefer is behind the spinoff.

Brad Winderbaum, president of television and animation at Marvel Studios, recently appeared on the “Official Marvel Podcast” and said that “Agatha All Along” will only be entertaining for so long until it starts to scare viewers.

“Agatha is really fun, but it’s really scary. It’s also very dramatic,” Winderbaum said. “She’s an amazing antihero. She pulls you in with the fun of Halloween, and before you know it, you’re crying.”

“It's a Marvel horror movie. It's a Halloween show. There are deadly dangers in this series. It's a fun ride, but it's dangerous,” he added.

The first two episodes of “Agatha All Along” will premiere on Disney+ on September 18. The series will run through October 30.
