Trump Claims Women Will Be ‘Happy, Free’ Due to Abortion Bans

Donald Trump appeared at a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Saturday, his first visit to the state since CNN reported that Trump-backed gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson made lewd and divisive comments — including calling himself a “black Nazi,” expressing support for reviving slavery, and admitting to enjoying porn featuring trans actors — on the porn site Nude Africa more than a decade ago.

Trump has acknowledged a number of Republicans while completely avoiding any mention of Robinson during his rhetorical, racist tirade, which has included his typical unsubstantiated rants that immigrants are destroying our country, this time claiming that they are “raiding villages and cities all over the Midwest” and that “every job” created in the United States in the past two years has gone to immigrants. He also addressed his obsession with crowd size, saying that this person came back “endlessly” to open the rally and later denying that he and J.D. Vance were “weird.”

He said women would be better off if he were re-elected, claiming that “women would be happy, healthy, confident, and free. We would no longer think about abortion because it is now where it should have always been, with the states,” even though 63 percent of U.S. adults in a Pew Research Center poll said abortion should be legal in all or most cases. He also claimed without evidence that Democrats were calling for “the death of a baby after birth, and that’s what they want.”

But earlier this month, Trump eloquently rebutted his claim during his debate with Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris. However, Trump added on Saturday: “I will protect women like never before. And they will finally have health, hope and safety. And their lives will be happy and beautiful, and their lives will be great again.”
