Jon Stewart criticized the “cognitive dissonance and language skills” used when describing Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah. On Monday’s episode, Daily Offer The host provided a “golden soundbite” to explain how “complicated this is.”
He then aired a video of Axios foreign policy and policy correspondent Barak Ravid on CNN. “What the Israeli government is saying — and the Biden administration in many ways believes in this idea — is de-escalation through escalation,” Ravid said in the clip.

Elsewhere, Stewart criticized President Joe Biden for claiming the US was “working tirelessly” to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. After playing various clips of Biden promising “we’re close,” Stewart noted that in one of the clips, Biden was eating ice cream. After Stewart grabbed the cone himself, he nearly fell when a clip of Israel launching an attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon played.
“Wait! We worked tirelessly to get a ceasefire in Gaza, and they’re in fucking Lebanon?” he shouted.
On September 17 and 18, pagers and small electronic devices belonging to Hezbollah members exploded across Lebanon. According to reports from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the operation, allegedly carried out by the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, killed at least 10 people—including one child—and wounded thousands.
Following the deadly attack, Israel launched strikes on Lebanon on Monday, killing more than 490 people, including more than 90 women and children, according to Lebanese authorities.
