Hollywood pays In honor of legendary comedian Bob Newheit, who died Thursday at the age of 94 after battling a “series of short illnesses.”
Stars including Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Hamill, Judd Apatow, Kaley Cuoco and others have celebrated his life on social media. Apatow, who directed a documentary about Newheit and Don Rickles' friendship, posted on Instagram, calling Newheit “so funny.”
“The best comedian, the best comedy star, and the kindest soul,” Apatow wrote. “It was an incredible experience to spend time with him while we were working on Bob and Don – A Love Story. I watched thousands of hours of his work growing up, and he made my life so much happier and did the same for the world.”
Apatow also posted another post on X, recalling the icon's “wonderful comedy and gentle spirit,” and shared a YouTube link to the documentary as well.
Newhart was beloved for his deadpan performances as a comedian and actor. He starred in Bob Newwhite Show In the seventies and New Heart In the 1980s, he attracted a younger fan base for his role as Papa Elf in dwarf As Professor Proton said in: Big bang theory.
Kaley Cuoco, who worked with Newwhite on Big Bang Theory, Cuoco shared several photos of Newhart and the show's cast on her Instagram Stories on Thursday. “It was a dream to witness the genius Bob Newhart. He was so personable, kind, generous, and funny,” Cuoco recalled. “In every shot – every time. Icon forever. I will never forget you, Bob! Thank you for making our dreams come true!”
Curtis posted a photo of Newwhite on her Instagram page, writing: “They will be laughing wherever people go when they leave us.”
“Oh my god that was funny! Bob Newheit. You will be missed,” Curtis commented.
“From his groundbreaking stand-up comedy specials to his classic sitcoms, he has given us a lifetime of laughter,” Hamill wrote on X. “He is truly one of a kind. Thank you, Bob Newwhite!”
