Jack White Surprise Releases New Album

Here's the problem: It's only available in Nashville, Detroit, and London.

It seems that Jack White has suddenly released a new album in the most amazing way Jack White could imagine: on vinyl, available only to those with access to one of the Third Man Records stores in Nashville, Detroit and London.

According to a post on his London Instagram page, Third Man will be giving away the albums for free with any in-store purchase on Friday (July 19) only. The album doesn’t appear to say anything other than “No Name” on the vinyl. At press time, it’s unclear whether the new album will be released more widely. When asked for more details, White’s publicist said he was “as surprised as anyone” about the new album.

Fans of White's music on the subreddit who have listened to the new album have described it as more raw and simple than his more recent albums like Fear of dawnOne fan described the song as “the rawest since The White Stripes ever.”

The new album is White's first release since 2022, when he released Fear of dawn In April, then Entering Heaven Alive After three months.

A lifelong vinyl advocate, White is no stranger to sharing music in unconventional ways. In 2016, White and Third Man played the first-ever vinyl record in space, launched via high-altitude balloon.

Long before that, when he was working full-time as a furniture upholsterer in Detroit, White and his co-worker Brian Muldoon formed a band called The Upholsterers, and hid 100 vinyl records of their music in some of the furniture they worked on. Some fans have since discovered the copies.
