If keeping spirits up at the 2024 Paris Olympics were a sport, the rapper and NBC special correspondent would win gold in all disciplines.
There is no way Snoop Dogg will let his epic celebrations at the 2024 Paris Olympics pass without picking up a microphone for musical purposes, instead commentating as a special correspondent for NBC. On Monday night, the rapper performed his global classic “Drop It Like It’s Hot” at the 50th anniversary concert of the U.S. National Basketball Association.
Comcast NBCUniversal and the NBA celebrated the 50th anniversary of the NBA. Guests at the event included LeBron James, Steph Curry, Anthony Edwards, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Diana Taurasi and more. Aja Wilson also attended the event and represented herself in the crowd, but Snoop Dogg represented her on stage, wearing a No. 9 USA jersey.
Scenes from the party at the Palais Brongniart were shared across social media by guests in attendance. “Drop It Like It’s Hot” was the clear fan favorite, but Snoop Dogg also surprised the star-studded crowd with “Too Close” by R&B group Next. “Can’t leave you out of this,” basketball player Tia Adams wrote in the caption of her TikTok post from the event.
Snoop Dogg’s performance was a powerful introduction to Team USA’s next round of matches in Paris. Later today, August 6, the men’s team will face Brazil in the quarterfinals. The women’s team is scheduled to return to the field tomorrow, August 7, for a quarterfinal match against Nigeria. The semifinals are scheduled for August 8 and 9 for the men’s and women’s teams, respectively. The medal games will follow over the weekend.
Since arriving in Paris, the rapper has gone swimming with Michael Phelps, carried the Olympic torch, narrated a powerful badminton match and cheered on the multi-title U.S. women's gymnastics team from the sidelines.
