Snoop Dogg Performs at Olympics Closing Ceremony With Dr. Dre

Snoop Dogg spent much of the 2024 Olympics contributing to NBC's coverage of the Games, and appropriately helped close them out with a performance during the closing ceremony.

The rapper performed his hit “Drop It Like It’s Hot” on a Los Angeles beach in front of elaborate sandcastles before being joined by Dr. Dre on a nearby stage for an energetic performance of their hit “The Next Episode.” They were part of a lineup that included Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and H.E.R. The performance was a nod to his roots in his hometown of Long Beach, where Los Angeles is set to host the 2028 Olympics.

Snoop Dogg was present from the start of the Olympic Games, carrying the torch on its final leg to Paris. He ran through the streets of Saint-Denis, a suburb north of Paris that is home to the Stade de France Olympic stadium.

Throughout the Games, he had a steady stream of viral moments, primarily for his reactions to competitions and commentary. He cheered on the women’s gymnastics team and mingled with the athletes; commentated on badminton matches; took swimming lessons from Olympic champion Michael Phelps; gave affirmations to gymnast Sunny Lee; took a private tour of the Louvre; and saw a horse named Gin & Juice. As the Games drew to a close, he gave a Death Row series to Simone Biles’ father for his birthday.

The legendary artist last released his 19th studio album, “BODR,” in 2022. He is currently working on his upcoming album, “Missionary,” which is set to be produced by longtime collaborator Dr. Dre. While details surrounding the project are scarce, 50 Cent has said he will be involved in the project.
