There is no such thing as The musical relationship between Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. In an interview conducted Monday, after the duo took the stage on a California beach as part of the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Dr. Dre shared his love of performing alongside Snoop Dogg.
“It’s magical. I don’t even feel comfortable performing without Snoop,” Dre told Entertainment Tonight. “There’s something about the synergy between me and Snoop that’s really interesting.”
“Seriously, Snoop, he's the superstar. I'm the co-star when we go on stage,” he added. “It's different when we're in the studio, you know? I'm the leader when we're in the studio, but when we go out, Snoop is the man.”
The new interview comes a day after Dre and Snoop performed from a beach in Southern California, alongside the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Billie Eilish, to celebrate the transition from the 2024 Olympics in Paris to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Dre added that the Olympic Committee made sure everything about their performance was “handled” carefully, keeping it under wraps before it aired on NBC.
“I was wondering how they were going to do it when nobody had cell phones or anything like that. It was filmed the day before it aired,” Dre said. “So trying to keep it a secret for that long seemed like an impossible feat, but they made it happen!”
In his interview with ET, Dre revealed that he and Snoop are “working together again” for the first time in 30 years on his upcoming album, explaining that this time around, things are a lot more fun.
“We were young at the time, you know what I mean? Snoop Dogg was probably 18 or 19, and I think I was six years older than him,” Dre said. “So we were young at the time, and this song shows a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music.”
