Kirsten Dunst Surprises Fans & Recreates Her Bring It On Cheer


Cinespia is an organization that screens classic films in iconic locations, and each year hosts a double-screening segment. As part of its 2024 summer season, Cinespia has invited Kirsten Dunst Fans headed to Hollywood Forever Cemetery to warm up and watch two very different movies from the year 2000, bring it and Virgin Suicide. Before the screenings, fans were in for an exciting surprise when the star herself, Dunst, took to the stage to introduce the films..




As Deadline reported, Dunst crashed the Kirsten Dunst Slumber Party this week by appearing on stage and reciting her introductory chant from bring it“I'm Ta-Ta-Ta-Torrence, your leader Torrance! Let's go, Torus!” she thanked Cinespia and its founder, John White, before introducing the first film. She added that she was excited to see the movies, having seen the film for the first time. She hadn't seen them in person with an audience since she was a teenager.:

Oh my God, guys, this is the craziest thing I've ever seen in my life. I'm so amazed. My friends and family are here, I'm going to watch with you. I haven't seen one of these movies with an audience since I was a teenager. I'm so honored.

Dunst as a teen idol

Having started her career in her youth with Little Women (1994), she moved towards leading roles in teen films. She starred bring it, She played Torrance Shipman, a cheerleader who tries to lead her team to their sixth national championship. The film follows her and the team's journey to win the championship against the rival school captain (Gabrielle Union), with the help of a new girl (Eliza Dushku). Considered a classic, the film was a commercial success, leading to a franchise with six direct-to-video sequels, though each did not feature the original cast.


The next film shown at Cinespia was Sofia Coppola's first film, Virgin Suicides Based on the novel of the same name, which was the first collaboration between Coppola and Dunst. A deeply moving and universally acclaimed film, the film follows the lives of five young women, the upper-middle-class Lisbon sisters, in Detroit during the 1970s. Dunst plays the eldest sister, Lux Lisbon. Dunst later portrayed Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's spider man trilogy, which propelled her to further stardom.
