Queens of the Stone Age Cancel Remaining 2024 Shows

“Josh was given no choice but to prioritize his health and receive essential medical care for the remainder of the year,” the band said in a statement.

Queens of Stone Age has canceled the remainder of its 2024 tour dates — including a string of North American shows and festival dates scheduled for the fall — as Josh Homme continues to recover from an unspecified surgery he underwent in July.

“QOTSA regrets to announce that all remaining shows for 2024 have been cancelled and/or postponed. Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and receive essential medical care for the remainder of the year,” the band wrote on social media.

The band was scheduled to play eight shows in North America this fall, starting with two nights at Boston’s MGM Music Hall on September 27 and 28. All five of the band’s standalone shows — including gigs in Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin — will be postponed to unannounced dates in 2025, while QOTSA has had to cancel festival appearances at Soundside in Bridgeport, Memphis’ Memphis and Mexico City’s Corona Capital.

In July, Queens of the Stone Age abruptly canceled their European tour after Josh Homme had to return to the United States “immediately for emergency surgery,” the band said in a statement. “Due to ongoing medical care, doctors have ordered Josh Homme to remain under their care in the United States.”

At the time, QOTSA's North American shows remained on the schedule before they were ultimately canceled on Friday. “Josh and the QOTSA family are so grateful for your support and the time we've been able to spend together over the past year,” the band added on Friday. “We hope to see you all again in 2025.”

The band was touring in support of their latest album, In Times New Roman font…which was released in 2023, the same year that Homi revealed that he had previously undergone surgery to remove cancer.
