Adam Sandler returns to the stage in “Love You,” a musical and comedy special directed by Josh Safdie, set to premiere on Netflix on August 27.
“Love You” is Sandler’s first comedy special since “100% Fresh” in 2018, and reunites him with Josh Safdie, who directed Sandler in “Uncut Gems” alongside his brother Benny. (This is Safdie’s first comedy special as a director.)
“You're the best, I love you! I love you! I need you! Help me!” Sandler shouts to the audience in the trailer for “Love Me,” which was first announced in February.
The special is produced by Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, along with producers Sandler, Safdie, Ronald Bronstein, Eli Bush, Dan Paula, Carter Hambly, Brian Robinson, Joseph Vixey, Judith Maul, Eli Thomas, and Perry Sachs. Barry Bernardi, Robert Digby, and John Irwin serve as executive producers.
“Love Me” is the latest collaboration between Sandler and Safdie. The comedy legend also starred in the Safdie brothers’ 2020 short film “Goldman v. Silverman” and is set to helm an upcoming sports memorabilia feature film directed by Josh and produced by Benny, though the latter has told Sandler he will be in the film. diverse In January, the film was “paused”.
Sandler also has a long history of working with Netflix, which in 2023 debuted his animated musical “Leo” and the Jewish comedy “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” in which he starred with his real-life wife and daughters. Sandler’s other Netflix films include 2024’s “Spaceman,” the “Murder Mystery” films with Jennifer Aniston, the basketball drama “Hustle” and the scary movie favorite “Hubie Halloween.”
