“I just need to rest. I've spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now,” the singer says at her final show in Munich on Saturday.
Adele wrapped up her Munich concert on Saturday with her 10th show in the German city, reaffirming her plan to take an extended break from music after wrapping up her Weekends With Adele shows in Las Vegas this fall.
“I just need some rest,” Adele said in a heartbreaking tone. “I’ve spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live it now. I want to live the life I’ve been building and I’m going to miss you terribly.”
The singer added that she intended the Munich residency to be the last shows for 30 But those plans changed when she rescheduled her postponed Las Vegas concert dates to the fall.
“But then I won’t see you for a very long time,” said Adele. “And I will hold you dear to my heart all the while I am away.”
In a radio interview in July, Adele first revealed that she would be stepping away from music to focus on family and other “creative things” after her residency ends; Adele's Las Vegas residency kicks off at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in November 2022, with the run set to run 100 shows by the time it ends in November.
“I have no plans to release any new music at all,” Adele said last month. “I want to have a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, even if it's just for a little while.”
Earlier this year, Adele acknowledged the limitations her fans face when their only option to see her live is to take a plane to Las Vegas or Munich. “I don’t think I’ll write an album for a long time, but next time I’ll go wherever you live,” she told fans in January.
