“Oasis is over,” Liam Gallagher told us in 2019. “If you miss them, you’re really bad luck.” Five years later, Oasis fans seem to be in luck, with brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher widely rumoured to be planning a reunion tour next year. It’s huge news for a band that has been defunct since 2009 – and whose two most important members have categorically denied any chance of a reunion more times than Robert Plant has spoken the words “Led Zeppelin.” (Though the brothers made some great music together during the band’s run, they have had a falling out that dates back to Liam’s birth.)
While we still have some burning questions about the reunion, here's a brief timeline of all the times Noel and Liam said Oasis would never get back together.
[Note: Well, not ALL the times, because that list would potentially approach infinity and tax the server capacity of the Internet. The Gallagher brothers have spoken about this constantly in interviews and on social media over the years, with Liam frequently referring to his brother as a potato. “[I’m asked] “Every day of the week,” Noel told us in 2016. “People say, ‘You’re definitely going to change — you’re going to change,’ and I say, ‘That’s so rude. They’re trying to trick me mentally.’” Take it for the best, and definitely not a Jedi mind trick.
August 2011: According to Noel, the mere thought of being reunited makes his brother feel sick.
“Liam said the idea makes him vomit, and that would never happen, so I don’t need to add anything to that,” he says. Rolling Stone“I don’t need the damn money, but I think it’s a shame that songs like ‘Champagne Supernova,’ ‘Rock and Roll Star,’ ‘The Importance of Being Idle,’ and ‘The Shock of the Lightning’ won’t be played again,” he adds. “In the stadium. It makes me sad. Money doesn’t matter in a way.”

December 2011: Liam prefers to eat his own poop.

January 2015: Noel claims he's only doing it for the money.
“If I were to do it, it would be just for the money,” he notes in an interview with S. “That’s not what I’m putting forward here, by the way. Would I do it for charity? No, no. We’re not that kind of people. For Glastonbury? I don’t think so. [organizer] “Michael Eavis has enough money. But will we ever get back together? As long as everyone is still alive and has hair, it’s a possibility. But only for the money.”
In the same interview, he also expressed a common concern faced by many bands considering a reunion: what if they’re not as good as they used to be? “I think it’s ingrained in the English psyche – this idea that the glory days and the empire are over,” he says. “Led Zeppelin! The Smiths! The Jam! They all have to reinvent themselves! Why? So a bunch of middle-aged people can stand up in the O2 and say, ‘They’re not as good as they used to be.’ It’ll be the same with Oasis.”
May 2015: Noel blames Liam for giving Oasis fans false hope
“He's a bit dishonest with the Oasis fans in the sense that he's always getting their hopes up,” he says. RSThere was a rumor last week that we had reached an agreement between Messrs. [to reunite]But this rumor came from his family. It's a “source close to him,” and I'll tell you how close he is: You probably wake up with him every morning. I don’t think we’ll last through the first song of ‘Rock N’ Roll Star.’ I think I’ll end up blaming him.”
May 2021: Noel doesn't feel like it, does he?
“People ask me this question every day and all I can say is I don’t feel like it,” Noel tells an Australian TV show. The project“When you’re in a band, you have to compromise, so I don’t think I can come up with an idea, show it to four people and then six weeks later someone rejects it because their cat has a cough. Well, I know he doesn’t want to either, but he likes to paint this picture of, you know, this little f**king guy sitting with his bag packed by the door, you know, like the little f**king kitten from the movie ‘F**k.’” a partnerYou know, the damned little Spanish cat with the big teary eyes. “I [gonna] “Go do it now for your fans.
