Anitta Will Headline First NFL Game in Brazil: ‘A Dream Come True’

Luiza Sonza will sing the Brazilian national anthem, while Zeba will sing the Brazilian national anthem.

The U.S. Soccer Federation is making history by bringing the tournament to South America next month, and it’s bringing a Brazilian star with it. On Tuesday, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced that Anitta will play in the league’s first-ever game in Brazil on Sept. 6.

Anitta will perform during halftime of the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles, which is scheduled to take place at Corinthians' New Química Arena in Sao Paulo.

“Growing up in Brazil has shaped my journey as both an artist and a person,” Anitta said in a statement. “It means everything to me to be able to perform in Sao Paulo at the first NFL game in Brazil, where I can bring the excitement and joy of our amazing culture to fans around the world.”

“It's truly a dream come true to be a part of this moment,” she added.

The entire match will be a celebration of cultural exchange as the match will be broadcast worldwide and will feature Brazilian pop star Luiza Sonza performing the Brazilian national anthem and Brazilian-American Zeba singing the US national anthem. Anitta’s setlist is set to include a medley of her most popular songs.

“With the excitement of the NFL’s inaugural game in Brazil, we felt it was imperative to tap into the dynamic music scene in São Paulo,” said Tim Tubito, NFL Director of Events and Presentations, in a statement. “We are thrilled to welcome global sensation Anitta and a host of top Brazilian artists to this historic event, and promise fans and viewers around the world an unforgettable celebration of culture and performance.”

Fans in the US will be able to watch highlights of the show on the Peacock app before it is posted in full on the NFL's YouTube channel.

The Packers vs. Eagles match venue is quite historic, having hosted six matches during the 2014 World Cup, including the opening match between Brazil and Croatia, which saw the home team win 3-1. This also won’t be the first time Anitta has performed at an advertising event – she also performed at last year’s 2023 UEFA Champions League Final alongside Burna Boy.
