American actor Armie Hammer has confirmed that his circumstances are forcing him to downsize his car. In a new video posted to his Instagram account, the actor explained that he is selling his beloved 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali pickup truck because he can no longer afford gas.
“I’ve been back in LA for a couple weeks now and this is my truck,” Hammer says in the clip. “I bought this truck for myself in 2017 as a Christmas present to myself. I love this truck so much I’ve taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips, and I took it on a recent road trip to CarMax.”
He added that the video was “not an ad for CarMax” and instead confirmed that he had decided to sell the truck. “Since I got back to LA, I've put $400 or $500 in gas on it and I can't afford it. I can't afford gas anymore,” Hammer said.
He recalled making great memories in the truck, including bringing his kids home from the hospital. “But you know what? That’s okay. I got a new car. It’s small. It’s a hybrid. I’ll probably put about $10 a month in gas in it, and that’s it. Here’s to new beginnings. It’s my birthday tomorrow,” he continued.
The actor added that he would “start his birthday in a new car, a new apartment, and a new life in Los Angeles.”
After disappearing from the public eye in 2021 following accusations of cannibalism, sexual assault and rape by multiple women, Hammer recently resurfaced in Los Angeles. In June, he spoke out about the allegations against him Painful lessons A podcast hosted by his “best friend” Tyler Ramsey.
“There were things people said about me that seemed really weird. Now, I can look at it from a different perspective and say, ‘That’s funny.’ People called me a cannibal and everyone believed them,” Hammer said. “They’d say, ‘Yeah, this guy ate people.’ I was like, ‘What? What are you talking about? You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people. How am I going to be a cannibal?’ It was weird.”
During the podcast, he added, “What I will say about that, even in the contradictions, even in everything that people have said, whatever has happened — I’m in a place in my life now where I’m grateful for every single part of it. I’m actually in a place now where I’m really grateful because where I was in my life before all of this happened to me, I didn’t feel satisfied. I never felt fulfilled. I was never satisfied, I was never in a place where I was happy with myself, where I had self-esteem. I never knew how to give myself love. I never knew how to give myself validation.”
Last month, Hammer appeared on Piers Morgan UncensoredDuring the interview, Morgan denied that he had ever eaten human flesh. He told Morgan, “You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to actually eat someone.”
“Any of those conversations that we had within that relationship, when you take them outside of that context and put them out in the open, they don’t look good,” he said of the sexual assault allegations. “You know, different people have different sexual fantasies. There’s a very broad spectrum of sexuality, and people are allowed to engage in their own sexuality in whatever way suits them and what they do.”
