Baby Reindeer’s Lead Would Testify in Favor of Netflix

That is how he meets Martha, a customer who Donnie thinks needs to be cheered up with a cup of tea. The next day, Martha returns and demands some attention. Donnie's “problem” is that he allows things to get too far, and Martha begins to stalk him, his family, and his girlfriend. When Donnie finally tries to do something about this, he turns to the police, who are reluctant to take him seriously. Donnie's trauma is so severe that it forces him to revisit a dark past in which he was the victim of something much more sinister.

Gad wrote the series and starred as Dan. Throughout the series, it was advertised that the events were based on a true story. How accurately the events were based on real events seemed irrelevant to viewers, who immediately began searching for real-life counterparts to the characters in the series. Fiona Harvey eventually came forward to confirm that she was the real “Martha,” and almost immediately began suing Netflix for damages. The lawsuit lists a staggering $170 million.

“Although the series is based on my life events and real events, and is at its core emotionally true, it is not a detailed account of the events and emotions I experienced as they occurred. It is fictional and does not aim to depict actual facts.”
