HER will also perform the national anthem in Paris as part of the 'handover ceremony' for the LA28 Games.
Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Olympic correspondent Snoop Dogg — all Los Angeles-based artists — will perform at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Sunday night as part of the “handover celebration” ahead of the LA28 Games.
HER also performed the national anthem live from Paris during the closing ceremony, signaling the collective star power that the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles will bring.
“This is the greatest moment in LA28 history yet, as the Olympic flag moves from Paris to Los Angeles,” said LA28 Board Chair Casey Wasserman in a statement. “We are thrilled to bring the best of Los Angeles to the world with local artists and are grateful to Billie & HER, the Chili Peppers and Snoop for collaborating on what will be a great show for a global audience that will give fans a glimpse of what’s to come in 2028.”
The handover ceremony will also feature “additional surprise guests” — possibly a Tom Cruise stunt that has been rumored throughout the Olympics — and is under the creative direction of Emmy-winning producer Ben Winston, who added in a statement, “The LA28 Handover Ceremony is about showcasing the pulse of Los Angeles — which, like the Olympics, is a place where people from all over the world come to make their dreams come true. We hope to showcase a collection of Los Angeles stories — featuring the city’s people, creativity, music and, of course, sports, all wrapped up in a little Hollywood glamour — to invite the world to the LA28 Games.”
The Paris Olympics opening ceremony featured a stunning performance by Lady Gaga, the viral hit Gojira, and Celine Dion's long-awaited return to the stage.
