Black Belt Eagle Scott is asking for support from her fans as she receives medical treatment after a “scary medical emergency.” The singer, born Catherine Paul, revealed on Instagram on Tuesday that she will have to refrain from performing at any shows as she undergoes treatment for what her neurologist suspects is relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS).
“I never thought I would be posting something like this, but here we are,” she wrote on Instagram. “I’m going through some scary health issues right now and will be canceling our future shows while I focus on my healing journey.”
In her Instagram post, Ball shared a link to a GoFundMe fundraiser to help cover expenses while she seeks treatment. She explained that she started experiencing “some weird symptoms” in her neck and spine, before being diagnosed with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis after seeing a neurologist in Seattle. The singer said she is undergoing more tests, but is “having a hard time dealing with my energy, movement, and other neurological symptoms.”
“This has been a difficult time for me as I have moved into uncharted territory, especially one where my music is a challenge for me at the moment, but my husband, Camas [Logue]“My family and friends have been the guiding lights in keeping me positive about my recovery,” she added, referring to her husband and band drummer.
A GoFundMe campaign aims to help Ball cover living expenses and medical expenses while she undergoes treatment. By Tuesday evening, the campaign had raised nearly $25,000. The GoFundMe description explained that Ball would not be able to perform music or tour because “per the instructions of her neurologists, she needs to rest and focus on her recovery and healing as that is the most important thing to her right now.”
“Since touring is our main source of income and we have incurred more health expenses than usual, we are asking our friends and community to help us through this difficult time so we can focus on KP’s recovery for the foreseeable future,” a note from Paul’s husband read.
