Blue Fox Sets November Release for ‘Lost on a Mountain In Maine’

Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired the rights to the feature film based on true events, “Lost on a Mountain In Maine,” which will hit theaters on November 1.

Produced by Sylvester Stallone's Balboa Productions, the film tells the true story of 12-year-old Don Vendler, who is “separated from his family by a fast-moving storm atop a treacherous mountain,” as the film's introduction states.

The novel continues: “For nine days, Don struggles to survive in the harsh wilderness of northern Maine without food, proper clothing, or knowledge of how bad his condition really is. His disappearance sparks a massive search effort that makes national headlines and attracts hundreds of volunteers, including his father, who fears he will never see his son again.”

The Stallone-produced film stars Luke David Bloom (“The King of Staten Island”), Paul Sparks (“House of Cards”), Caitlin Fitzgerald (“Masters of Sex”) and Ethan Slater (“Wicked”), and recently played to a sold-out crowd at the 810-seat Waterville Opera House at the Maine International Film Festival.

Andrew Buddhu Kitlinger (“Tater Tot,” “Patton”) is directing the film, from a screenplay by Luke Paradise (“Sympathy for the Devil”), based on the 1978 book of the same name written by Vendler about his childhood experiences.

Stallone is co-producing the film, while Braden Aftergood, Dick Boyce, Ryan Cook, Heather Grehan, Derek Desmond, Stephanie Blackwood, and Mario Nicosia serve as executive producers.

“This is an American classic you don’t see anymore — an emotional epic built around a powerful performance from a 12-year-old star. We shot in the real wilderness — up to our necks in rivers, climbing mountains — and every day on set, the cast and crew upheld Stallone’s vulnerable morals,” Budhu Kettlinger said in a statement. “By promoting a theatrical release, Blue Fox is giving audiences something they’ve been craving — an incredible (and real) story of hope, courage, and family, sculpted with a modern edge.”

Balboa Productions’ latest documentary, “Sly,” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival’s closing ceremony ahead of its release on Netflix in November 2023. Previous productions include the superhero film “Samaritan,” starring Stallone, on Amazon Prime and the TV series “Tulsa King,” which launched in November 2022 on Paramount+ and is currently wrapping production on its second season.

Blue Fox Entertainment's latest U.S. releases include the teen comedy-drama “Empire Waist,” the animated surf comedy “The Greatest Surf Movie in the Universe” starring Luke Hemsworth, and “Take My Hand” starring Radha Mitchell.
