Bright Eyes announced Wednesday that it will cancel its upcoming record release dates due to founder and lead singer Conor Oberst losing his voice.
In a statement shared on social media, the band said they were “saddened” by the decision and that “the warm-up shows we played earlier this week resulted in Conor losing his voice.” They added that “on the advice of doctors, we have made the difficult but sensible decision to prioritize rest and recovery for the remainder of the month.”
Canceled shows include Brooklyn Steel in New York City on September 19, Riot Fest in Chicago on September 21, and Steel House in Omaha on September 22.
Bright Eyes said it is working to reschedule dates and will update fans when more information is available, while noting that refunds will be available at point of purchase.
“Thank you for your understanding, love and support,” they wrote before signing off. “I can’t wait to see you all soon.”
