The singer announced Looking Back: Selected RecordingsA massive collection of 81 tracks covering his work from 1973 to 2023.
Bryan Ferry has announced his massive album, Retrieval: Selected Recordings from 1973 to 2023a career-spanning collection documenting 50 years of his music, is set to be released on October 25.
The upcoming project is billed as a celebration of “a masterful modern interpreter of song through a series of stunningly innovative versions ranging from Bob Dylan to Amy Winehouse, Rodgers and Hart to the Velvet Underground via Tim Buckley, Shakespeare and the Sea Songs and Sam & Dave,” according to a press release. The album will also honor Ferry’s songwriting legacy and include his best singles such as 1985’s “Slave to Love.”
To celebrate the announcement, Ferry has also released a cover of Dylan's classic 1965 song, “She Belongs to Me.” The reimagined song will be part of a new five-track EP, Looking Back: It Belongs to Me – First three digital releases of the EP in the coming months as part of Retrieval: Selected Recordings from 1973 to 2023The “Don't Stop the Dance” singer had previously covered Dylan's apocalyptic 1962 anthem, “A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall,” as part of Berry's 1973 debut solo album, These fools (Released when he was still part of Roxy Music).
Retrieve: Selected Recordings from 1973 to 2023 The album will also include a new song titled “Star,” and will be divided into two CD sets that showcase different stages of Ferry’s career: “The Best of Bryan Ferry,” “Compositions,” “Interpretations,” “Rare and Unreleased,” and “Selected Recordings 1973-2023.” Each disc will explore different aspects and eras of Ferry’s work, from B-sides and deleted takes to focusing on his ability to transcend genres and push the boundaries of songwriting.
