CAA and Wasserman Foundation Partner to Launch School Day 2024

CAA and the Wasserman Foundation have joined forces to announce School Day 2024, a Los Angeles County-wide call to action for entertainment industry partners to provide additional resources for teachers, students, and classrooms.

Starting Saturday, businesses are encouraged to sponsor a Los Angeles school for a day of service, mentoring program, and/or provide critical financial resources.

“Supporting students and educators has long been a focus of CAA, and it’s a cause I care about personally,” said Richard Lovett, CAA Co-President. “For many years, I volunteered at Venice High School, teaching a weekly class to help empower our future leaders. I know firsthand that our time and resources on campus are a worthwhile investment, and part of our commitment to creating a brighter, more equal future for all. We urge our peers to join our school day efforts to provide LAUSD with essential support and resources.”

CAA hosts a school beautification event with City Year of Los Angeles at Saturn Street Elementary School, while the Wasserman Foundation hosts a career day for students and renovates Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights.

“I believe that a quality education is a right, not a privilege. In order to have a successful community, city, and society, we must provide robust opportunities for all students, regardless of their zip code,” said Casey Wasserman, CEO of the Wasserman Foundation and LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Chair. “In an effort to level the playing field, the Wasserman Foundation has been working for the past 14 years to renovate schools and provide the resources they need. I am excited to join CAA and a growing list of Los Angeles companies this year in a coordinated way to bring much-needed attention and additional funds to our schools.”

Other participating companies include FOX, Paramount Pictures, the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation, SnapChat, Amazon, Bad Robot, the Los Angeles Rams, The Walt Disney Company, Guitar Center Music, OBB Media, the Chargers, AEG, and NBCUniversal.

“Targeted, strategic, and collaborative investments from external stakeholders in our schools can create lasting positive impact,” said Alberto M. Carvalho, Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District. “I hope School Day creates an opportunity to celebrate our partners who show up to help students, and we look forward to welcoming more supporters to join us in ensuring our children are ready for the world.”
