Several members of Hollywood and the music industry have pledged their support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Celebrities from Charli XCX to Barbra Streisand to Sheryl Lee Ralph and Kerry Washington shared their endorsements on social media after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election on Sunday.
After Harris's tracks on Charli XCX's album Naughty The song went viral over the weekend, with the singer writing on X, “Kamala is a bad girl” on X. Harris' X account then followed Charli on the platform.
For her part, Barbra Streisand expressed her “love” for Biden, before adding that Harris “will continue Joe Biden's work and will be a great president.” She added: “Trump is a pathological liar who lies as easily as he breathes. He wants to take away women's rights and destroy our great democracy.”
Cardi B She shared her excitement on X. She said she always thought Harris “was supposed to be the 2024 nominee.” She wrote, “Stop playing with me!!” Lil Nas X simply wrote, “Shut up baby bro @KamalaHarris!”
Actress Viola Davis reposted Harris’ announcement on Instagram, writing, “I’m with her!” She also shared a video of a little girl giving a sweet speech while dressed as the vice president. On the X show, Washington thanked Biden for doing “a brave and bold thing” in stepping down and for years of “selfless leadership.”

Actor Josh Gad thanked Joe Biden, posting a photo on Instagram with the president and calling him an “American hero,” before offering his full support for Harris.
“Sending all my support and love and pledging to do everything in my power to elect @kamalaharris so my girls can see that a woman in the United States can be the leader of the free world for the first time in 235 years,” Judd wrote. “After all, the other man in the race is far too old to hold office.”
In another photo with the vice president, Sheryl Lee Ralph added the caption, “When you win, we win!”
Oscar-winning director Spike Lee also took to the platform, writing: “Once again sister comes to the rescue.”

Mark Ruffalo shared Biden’s announcement, telling fellow Democrats, “Now we have our orders and our time to run.” He reposted a video of Harris on X, writing, “Trump is too old and of terrible character to be president. He can’t be trusted or relied upon and is always sleeping on the job. We need a young president who is not a convicted felon to be president.”

While there hasn’t been much excitement around his candidacy, some industry players have still supported the incumbent president’s campaign; they’ve emphasized the importance of voting for the Biden administration and rallying around the issues he supports. But after the disastrous first presidential debate on June 27, many in the industry have begun to voice concerns about the possibility of Trump defeating Biden in November.
Even Biden’s biggest donors and longtime supporters have spoken out against him.
