The country star joined the rock band on an updated version of their song “Leave the Light On (Talk Away the Darkness)”
Although it may Carrie Underwood is one of the most famous names in country music, and she's a diehard rocker. Now, Underwood has teamed up with alt-metal band Papa Roach for a new version of the band's hit song “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark).”
The song originally appeared on Papa Roach's 2022 album A journey with oneself “988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline” has become an anthem for the American Suicide Prevention Foundation. The new version, featuring Underwood and lead singer Jacoby Shaddix, seeks to further this partnership with the American Suicide Prevention Foundation and raise awareness for suicide prevention and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline organization in the United States and Canada. According to a press release, the American Suicide Prevention Foundation “will receive royalties from the song from both artists in perpetuity.”
“I am a huge fan of Jacoby and Papa Roach, and I was honored to be invited to record ‘Leave a Light On’ with them,” Underwood said in a statement. “It is a beautiful song and the message it conveys and the band’s mission to shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness has never been more important.”
“We were humbled that Carrie was so open to our mission, and when we heard the power of Carrie’s voice in that recording session, we were blown away,” said Shaddix. “Not only is her vocal ability unparalleled, but the impact of her voice brings new meaning to our cause and will help people all over the world.”
