Channing Dungey, Peter Safran Join Entertainment & Technology Summit


diverse Warner Bros. Television announced that Chairman and CEO Channing Dungey and Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of DC Studios Peter Safran will participate in the annual Entertainment and Technology Summit presented by City National Bank on September 26 in Los Angeles.

Dungey, who was recently appointed to oversee WBD’s U.S. network business in addition to overseeing Warner Bros. Television Group, will talk about her vision for TV stories that connect broadly with audiences, such as her team’s live-action scripted series “Ted Lasso” and “Abbott Elementary,” the world of “The Big Bang Theory” and “Presumed Innocent,” unscripted favorites “The Bachelor” and “The Voice,” and hit animated films “Batman: Caped Crusader” and “Harley Quinn,” among others.

Safran will discuss his leadership of the newly formed DC Studios, where he and fellow co-chairman and co-CEO, acclaimed writer-director James Gunn, are leading the effort to bring the power and wonder of the DC Universe across film, television, animation and games under one banner. First, “Joker: Folie à Deux” will be released in theaters and “The Penguin” will be released on HBO/Max.

Adam Aron, CEO of AMC Theaters, will join the summit for a conversation discussing the importance of the theatrical experience and how cinematic technology innovations are helping to drive audiences back to theaters.

The panel discussion, “Mastering the Streaming Business,” will feature Alyssa Bowen, President, Disney+; Annie Luo, EVP, Global Partnerships and Strategic Development, Peacock; Charlie Collier, President, Media, Roku; Pierluigi Gazzolo, CEO, ViX, Inc. and TelevisaUnivision, Inc.; and Frank Bulbin, Chief Revenue Officer, Verizon.

Erin Ormland, Managing Director at AgilLink and Senior Vice President and Head of Ecosystem Delivery at City National Bank, will be featured in the talk “Developing Financial Operations in an Uncertain Media Market.”

Charlotte Maines, Director of Advertising and Monetization at EDS at Fire TV, Rachel Delvin, Director of Marketing at Twitch, and Nick Pepper, Head of Wholly Owned Content at Amazon MGM Studios, will talk about how the streaming media landscape serves as a channel to diversify audience reach, while building brand equity and customer trust.

Tim O'Brien, Chief Revenue Officer at Scopely, will talk about how mega deals and mergers are transforming the traditional entertainment and video game industries.

Michael Weiss, CTO of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group; Abhi Ashok, VP of Travel Incubator at Expedia Group; and Katja Reitmeier, Director of Data Science and AI for Media and Entertainment at Nvidia, joined a panel discussion titled “Generative AI – Succeeding with the Genie Out of the Bottle,” alongside Ellie Collins, VP of Deep Mind at Google; Phil Weiser, CTO of Paramount Global; and Victoria Bossis, filmmaker and creative technologist.

Emmy-nominated actress and host of “The Mess Around” and “The Lamorning After” Lamorne Morris has been added to the “Podcast All-Stars” panel, which also includes Jesse Tyler Ferguson, host of “Dinner’s on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson,” Jenna Ushkowitz, host of “And That’s What You REALLY Missed,” Iliza Shlesinger, host of “Ask Iliza Anything,” and Whitney Cummings, host of “Good For You.”

For the first time, Citi National will host a post-summit cocktail party, which will be held on a private rooftop for participants and speakers to network and enjoy hors d'oeuvres together.
