Chappelle Rowan has made it clear: Harassment and stalking will never be acceptable to her, no matter how famous she is. On Monday, the “Good Luck Baby” singer shared two TikTok videos calling out the “harassment” and stalking she has apparently faced from some fans.
“I don’t care that abuse, harassment, stalking, or whatever else is considered normal for famous people or non-famous people, whatever,” she said. “I don’t care that it’s normal. I don’t care that this kind of crazy behavior comes with the job, or the career field that you’ve chosen, that doesn’t make it acceptable. That doesn’t make it normal. That doesn’t mean I want it. That doesn’t mean I like it.”
“I don’t want anything that you think you’re entitled to. Whenever I see a celebrity, don’t think it’s selfish of me to say no to a picture or to spend time with you or to hug you,” Rowan continued. “That’s not normal. That’s weird. It’s weird how people think you know someone just because you see them online and listen to the art they make. That’s really weird. I’m allowed to say no to creepy behavior.”
It's not yet clear what exactly Rowan was referring to in her videos, and she urged fans to “not assume this is directed at a specific person or encounter.” However, Rowan's fans have had some online discussions about the behavior of one of the fan update account administrators.
On Monday, Rowan first shared a video featuring hypothetical questions to describe a situation where a fan shouted at her from a car window and harassed her after she refused to take a photo with him.
“Are you going to go after her family? Are you going to follow her everywhere? Are you going to try to analyze her life and bully her online?” I asked. “This is a woman you don’t know and who doesn’t know you at all. Are you going to assume she’s a good person? Are you going to assume she’s a bad person? Are you going to assume everything you read about her online is true?”
“I’m a random girl. You’re a random girl. Just think about that for a second, okay?” she added.
Rowan's comments come nearly a month after she spoke to Drew Affulo about how she “pumped the brakes” after some fans sparked “feelings of stalking.” At the time, the singer said people started acting like “weirdos,” adding that they “followed me around and knew where my parents live, where my sister works. All that weird shit.”

She also spoke candidly about her struggles with her sudden rise to fame. “I feel a little bit uncomfortable today, because I think my career is going so fast that it’s hard to keep up,” she said on stage during a show in June.
