Charli XCX and Billie Eilish appeared in lingerie and bras in the music video for “Guess,” but fans who waited until the show was over might have noticed that the underwear was put to good use.
As the end credits of the video directed by Aidan Zamiri appeared on screen, a note read: “All unused underwear will be donated to survivors of domestic violence through the I Support the Girls campaign.”
“Today is literally @charli_xcx’s birthday but she gave us the biggest gift,” the charity wrote on social media, claiming the singers had donated around 10,000 pairs of underwear to them. “We are so grateful for the huge donation of around 10,000 pairs of underwear and bras from the ‘Guess’ music video featuring @billieeilish 🩲 A collaboration that literally changes thousands of lives! #charlixcx #brat #bratsummer.”
There's a lot of lingerie to be found in the “Guess” video, which sees the pop stars climbing a mountain of underwear and bras and loading piles of them into a bulldozer. News of the collaboration came just hours before the song and video premiered yesterday, much like the opening line of Charli's song, “You wanna guess what color my underwear is / You wanna know what's going on down there.”
I Support Girls is a nonprofit organization founded in 2015 that collects donations of new and used bras and sealed packages of feminine hygiene products for girls and women experiencing homelessness. It started in a woman’s basement in Maryland and now has branches around the world.
“Guess” was originally included on the bonus edition of Charli’s “Brat” album, which was released in early June. The album has since taken on a second life, spurring its own cult following that has taken hold online and off. Most recently, Charli declared Kamala Harris a “naughty girl” after the Democratic presidential nominee replaced President Joe Biden on the ticket.
