LACMA's Art + Film Gala is going to be huge this year.
The museum announced that Charli XCX will perform at this year's event. The evening will be a tribute to filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and artist Simone Lee.
Art + Film is a must-attend event in Los Angeles for Hollywood’s biggest names, as well as leaders in media, technology, fashion and art. This year’s celebration, co-chaired by Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio and presented by Gucci, takes place on November 2 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Los Angeles.
“Simone Lee is one of the most compelling and important voices in contemporary art, deftly blending a range of artistic traditions and focusing on Black women in powerful and moving ways,” Michael Govan, CEO of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Wallis Annenberg Director, said in a statement Wednesday morning. “Baz Luhrmann has created an emotional cinematic work over three decades, driven by his imagination and passion. We are excited to honor him alongside Simone and celebrate their remarkable careers.”
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the California African American Museum are currently hosting “Simone Lee,” the artist’s largest West Coast exhibition to date. The joint exhibition, co-hosted by the two institutions, runs through January 20, 2025.
