Childish Gambino Performs Deep Cuts, New Album on New World Tour


Donald Glover is Saying goodbye to his Childish Gambino name while traveling — and tapping into his old hits while traveling — the musician kicked off his new world tour Sunday in Oklahoma City, playing songs from his new album Bando stone & The New World He included in his playlist songs he hadn't touched for nearly a decade.

Fans shared videos from the performance, which showed Gambino playing songs from different parts of the arena, and previewing a futuristic light show. The musician has been teasing a live performance, telling Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 that the LP was “made to rock the arena” and was meant to be played live.

“If this live show isn’t the best live show you’ve ever seen, you can get your money back,” Glover said. “When you hear all these songs, you’ll know. I’m going to add all these new songs. I’m going to add all this new technology, but the live event is what makes it valuable to me.”

Of course, some of Gambino's best songs were still on the setlist. He played songs like “Feels Like Summer,” “Me and Your Mama” and “This Is America.” The musician also closed out his set with “Redbone” before adding “Lithonia.”

The singer is set to kick off his new world tour in Kansas City on Monday before stopping in cities including Boston, New York, Tampa, Los Angeles and Chicago through early October. He will be joined by singers Amarai and Willow on the opening leg.
