Coldplay Tap Little Simz, Burna Boy for Hopeful Single ‘We Pray’


Coldplay have released a new single, 'We Pray', featuring Little Simz, Burna Boy, Tini and Elyanna. The upbeat track is available in five versions, including a live version from the band's headline gig at Glastonbury 2024, where they performed the song for the first time.

All five versions are available now on EcoCD and the remastered 12-inch format, while Tini’s version will be available on streaming sites on September 6 and Elyanna’s version will follow on September 20. The Glastonbury Festival live show is exclusive to physical releases.

“We Pray” comes from Coldplay's upcoming album, Moon musicwill be released on October 4. The song follows the band's last release, “Feels Like I'm Falling in Love” — which was stylized as “feelslikeimfallinginlove” — which was released in June.

Coldplay announced Moon music, Their tenth studio album and a follow-up to their 2021 album Ball musicEarlier this summer, ahead of the release of “Feels Like I’m Falling in Love,” the band debuted another new song, “All My Love,” at their first-ever concert in Athens, Greece. Martin joked that the audience wasn’t supposed to hear the song until September, suggesting it would likely debut in Moon music (Although the full track list has not been released yet.)

When Coldplay announced Moon musicThe band said it will release the album in a variety of formats that meet “new sustainability standards.” For example, each vinyl edition of the album will be made from nine recycled plastic bottles, while the CD version will be made from 90 percent recycled polycarbonate. The band said the efforts will reduce production’s carbon dioxide emissions by at least 78 percent and avoid the use of more than five metric tons of virgin plastic.

Coldplay is currently gearing up for their Music of Spheres tour. Earlier this week, the band paid tribute to Taylor Swift during a stop in Vienna, Austria, when singer Chris Martin performed “Love Story” with singer Maggie Rogers. He dedicated the song to Swift and her fans after her shows in the city were cancelled earlier this month following an attempted terrorist plot.

“Of course, we didn’t mention that Vienna was in the news all over the world for all the wrong reasons. But what got to us was the beauty and kindness of all the Taylor Swift fans,” Martin said, addressing the Ernst Happel Arena, the same venue Swift was scheduled to play at two weeks ago.
