Fans were completely shocked when Channing Tatum He appeared on screen as Gambit in Deadpool and WolverineThe brief appearance was one of the most shocking in the film, But the surprises didn't stop there, as fans were even more surprised (and a little confused) when Tatum started speaking in his own capacity.Gambit has only appeared once in a live-action film on the big screen (in X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and this version did not have the distinctive Cajun accent of the character from the beloved '90s cartoon series. However, Tatum was determined to get the voice right, and director Shawn Levy Now reveal the work that went into Gambit's distinctive voice.
Levy spoke to Variety after the release of Deadpool and Wolverine In a spoiler-filled conversation, Levy revealed exactly where Tatum's voice came from in the film. In the comics, Gambit (also known as Remy Etienne LeBeau) is a New Orleans native who speaks Cajun English and Louisiana French. Tatum embraced this in his performance, delivering some funny lines, with the line “I'm about to make a name for myself here” already becoming an internet meme..
Much of the character's comedy also comes from entire lines of dialogue getting lost in the thick accent. Levy has now revealed that this was always intentional, but Tatum took the voice to a whole new level. The director said:
“We wrote a lot of those lines that didn’t make sense. We wrote them into the script. But then Channing added a lot of Cajun and French flavors. To this day, there are some things he says — like when he sees Hugh drinking and throws a loaded card in his face, he says something that’s very much like ‘cooyain-zwah’ — where I don’t know the words.”

He explained:
“When Deadpool kept saying, ‘That’s not a word. Who’s your dialect coach… Minions?’ That was all of us on set. We absolutely loved that.”
