Demi Lovato has released a new single titled “You’ll Be OK, Kid.” The song, produced by Warren “OK” Felder, was written for the singer’s upcoming documentary, child starwill be released on September 17 on Hulu.
“Working on” child star “It was a deeply meditative experience for me,” Lovato explained in a statement. “It allowed me to delve into my childhood emotions, while also connecting with others who had so much in common. While we were editing the film, I was deeply inspired to write a song. The idea of connecting with my younger self through the pain and struggles that came with childhood stardom was so important to me. I wrote the song as a letter to my inner child, and I hope it can give others the opportunity to connect with their inner child as well.”
child star The film explores the ups and downs of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world's most famous former child stars. The film features Lovato sitting down with celebrities including Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, Christina Ricci, Raven-Symoné, JoJo Siwa, and Alyson Stoner. Lovato co-directed the film alongside Nicola Marsh, and it marks the singer's directorial debut.
Lovato spoke about the documentary in a cover story with Vogue Teen Magazine Earlier in this article, she described how she navigated her early years as an actress. “I don’t want to blame anyone,” she said of her experiences. “But at the same time, there was a responsibility to protect us. The problem is that once you get into the industry, the train doesn’t stop moving unless you hit the brakes.”
The singer's latest album, Oh, my GodArrived in 2022. Last year, she unveiled a remix album, Renewedwhich included 10 rock re-recorded versions of songs from previous albums. Earlier this year, Lovato collaborated with Slash on a cover of the Temptations' “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”
