Did Noel Gallagher Already Write a New Oasis Album?

Last year, back When the possibility of an Oasis reunion seemed as likely as Joe Biden dropping out of the presidential race, Noel Gallagher revealed on our show Rolling Stone Music Now A podcast in which he wrote 40 songs during the Covid lockdown. Some of these songs have been included in Heaven CouncilHis most recent album is with the band High Flying Birds, but he has two full albums left. He said: “There's an acoustic album as well, which is a very simple album, and I started recording it recently before I left [on tour]”And then there's a stadium rock album that relies heavily on guitar.”

His original plan was to release an acoustic album (which has yet to appear) and then move on to a “joyful guitar album,” but now that he and his brother Liam have announced an Oasis reunion, all bets are off. And if he’s looking for a singer for a stadium rock album, Liam Gallagher certainly seems like the man.

In the new episode of Rolling Stone Music NowIn this week’s episode of the podcast, we discuss the surprise announcement of an Oasis reunion, the possibility of a new album, and much more – with relevant audio from both Liam and Noel’s previous interviews with the podcast. Andy Greene joins host Brian Hiatt for the discussion, which also delves into how Oasis have become so much more popular in the US during their absence.

“Before we get back together — if we ever get back together — we have to become brothers and friends again,” Liam said. Rolling Stone Music Now In 2017. “And then I imagine that once that happens, and we start hanging out or whatever, and we become friends and talk to each other on a nice, respectful level, we’ll probably say, ‘Fuck it. We’re going to take the f**king band on tour and go on tour,’ you know what I mean? Because I know he wants to do it, and I know I want to do it… I know he doesn’t want to support U2 playing a third of a stadium when he can do it himself with his brother… I’d rather talk about an Oasis album than a Liam solo album. And I know Noel Gallagher would do it. Because we’re better together… And I’m fully aware of that. And so is he.”
