Xandra, who released her debut single “Body Say” this summer, has released an interesting song about “amazing artists.”

Zandra has been DJing since she was a freshman in high school — and she knows a lot about facing down hate to master her craft. Last week, the DJ spoke to Rolling Stone Behind the scenes at the US Open Finals Fan Fest, he offered some advice to young girls interested in becoming DJs.

“For any girl looking to be a DJ, the boys can be mean. And they will be mean,” she said. Rolling Stone“The ‘Green Room’. “They’ll tell you you don’t know what you’re doing because of the way you look and honestly, you could screw this up, damn them. Damn them all. You shouldn’t let anyone get you down. Especially a boy.”

Zandra said she was inspired to become a DJ after seeing Alison Wonderland perform at Lollapalooza when she was in high school. She quickly learned how to DJ and got her first gig booked: a high school homecoming. “I started doing frat parties in Cincinnati, where I grew up… I joined my first club at 18 and the rest is history,” she said.

Zandra said she was initially hesitant to release any songs, but is proud of “Body Say,” her first-ever single, which features Gigi Grombacher. “I'm a perfectionist, and I wouldn't release a song with my name on it until I was obsessed with it,” she said.

As for what's next, Zandra said she'll be releasing another batch of songs once her “Body Say” tour wraps up. She also shared that she's working with “some amazing artists” that listeners may recognize.

“I’m always looking at the audience. I’m in a rush. You have to be very engaged with your audience, honestly,” she said. “You have to be able to switch things up in a rush. I’ll play a song and be like, ‘Oh my God, this isn’t working,’ and I’ll be mixing it up in 15 seconds.”
