Drew Barrymore wants to start practicing the opposite of getting up close and personal.
Barrymore, whose eponymous talk show was recently renewed for a sixth season, admitted in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she will “try to practice physical distancing” in the future when conducting interviews and interacting with guests.
“Well, I’m going to try to practice physical distancing, which is not my strong suit,” Barry Moore said. “Do you know how hard the pandemic has been for me? I was alone in the studio! I love being around people!”
“I think we’re always going to focus on joy and laughter and being happy, and that’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” Barry-Moore explained. “But I never thought we’d start in a pandemic, and trying to tap into joy and being happy and being funny in that time was really weird and crazy.”
News of the renewal of “The Drew Barrymore Show” comes ahead of its fifth season premiere on September 9 — with Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures, saying, “Drew is a unique talent and an integral part of the CBS and Paramount family.”
“This early renewal and upgrades are a testament to our commitment to The Drew Barrymore Show and its loyal fans, who tune in every day to see Drew’s warmth, curiosity and spontaneity,” she added.
According to CBS, the show averages 1.1 million viewers, with nearly six billion minutes watched this season. The high ratings have led to the show's primetime slot being upgraded on CBS — the talk show now airs in six markets, including five of the top 10.
