Austin Butler continues to build an impressive filmography of working with great directors and his latest is no exception. It has been announced that the Oscar-nominee is set to join Darren Aronofsky‘s latest movie.

Per Variety, Butler is set to star in Aronofsky’s crime thriller Caught Stealing, for Sony Pictures. The studio recently landed the package which is based on the book by Charlie Huston. The screenplay will also be written by Huston, and it’s said to follow Hank Thompson, “a burned-out former baseball player as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ’90s NYC.” Once the news broke about Butler’s casting, Aronofsky spoke on his excitement to get the project rolling:

“I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller coaster ride to life. I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers.”



Austin Butler’s Star Continues to Rise

Butler is no stranger to working with Sony Pictures, starring in one of his first breakout roles for the studio and Quentin Tarantino when he appeared in Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood. The actor also has Don Winslow’s City On Fire in development at Sony Pictures, so it marks another strategic move to maintain great working relationships with the right power players in Hollywood, along with teaming up with solid directors to further expand his talent.
