Echo Star Sets Sights on a Villainous Twist in Season 2

Alaqua Cox, the star of the Disney+ series Echo, already has story ideas for a hopeful second season. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the show’s renewal, Cox’s enthusiasm for her character, Maya Lopez, and the series’ potential direction is infectious.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Cox shared her ideas for expanding the storyline into a deeper exploration of Maya’s familial connections. She expressed a keen interest in moving the setting to New York City where Maya and her family could seek vengeance against those who have wronged them. Cox also wishes to introduce the Green Goblin, a formidable adversary from the Marvel archives, as a key antagonist. Cox said:

“[I’d like more of] Maya’s family. I wouldn’t mind if they went to New York City and all got revenge on those people that have hurt them and also used the powers of their ancestors that they have. I think that’d be cool storyline.
And the Green Goblin. That would be pretty cool. I think I’d like to face the Green Goblin.
”

Beyond the familial and adversarial dynamics, Cox is also hopeful for Maya’s integration into the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe. She imagines scenarios where Maya could intersect with iconic figures such as the Avengers, or even appear in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. Read Cox’s comment below:

“I would hope that she’s able to cross paths with other superheroes as well, for example, the Avengers.
That would be a dream come true if she was able to meet any of the Avengers or even if she was in Daredevil [Born Again].
We just don’t know. I’d like to see any of those possibilities.”

Echo’s Future Hangs in the Balance Amid Daredevil Crossover Rumors

With Echo’s first season wrapped and its reception still simmering, the prospects for a second season are ripe with speculation. Adding to the intrigue, Cox’s co-star, Vincent D’Onofrio, is also starring in the eagerly awaited Daredevil: Born Again, sparking rumors about potential crossovers and further integration of Echo into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

David Mack, co-creator of the Echo series, recently expressed his aspirations for the show’s future. His excitement for the series’ continuation was evident, as he voiced his desire to not only see a second season of Echo.
