Every State’s Song to Nominate Kamala Harris

Every State’s Song to Nominate Kamala Harris

The Democratic National Convention continued Tuesday with another slate of speakers championing Vice President Kamala Harris. Not all of them were Democrats. The second day of the Democratic National Convention also saw the Delegates’ Call, where delegates representing U.S. states and territories announced their presidential picks. It was more exciting than it should have been.

As Democratic Party Secretary Jason Rae called each delegation up from the stage, DJ Cassidy sang a song for each state — except in the case of Georgia, when Lil Jon, of Atlanta, walked down the aisle himself to perform “Turn Down for What” — before one or more politicians or dignitaries said a few words and declared their delegation’s support for Harris. It felt like a party, one with a great soundtrack and, in the case of Wisconsin, some colorful headdresses.
