Fatman Scoop suffered a medical emergency while performing in Hamden, Connecticut on Friday night.

Hamden Mayor Lauren Jarrett confirmed the news on social media, writing that while the rapper, whose real name is Isaac Freeman, was on stage at Hamden Town Center Park, he suffered a “medical emergency” and was “transported by ambulance to the hospital.” The mayor added: “We will provide updates as they become available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”

Videos posted on X appear to show Scoop collapsing from behind a DJ booth as the music stops and another performer continues to address the crowd. Online clips show the crowd huddled in silence as bystanders rush to Scoop's aid.

Scoop, who made a name for himself as a publicist and radio personality, gained fame with his 1999 single “Be Faithful,” which featured the Crooklyn Clan. The rapper also appeared on Missy Elliott's hit single “Lose Control” alongside Ciara. The song peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100. The song's video won a Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video, while the song received a nomination for Best Rap Song.

He also worked with Mariah Carey on the 2005 song “It's Like That,” which featured improvisations by the rapper. (That year, Carey received a nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.)
