What is it OsixoaThe full title of FKA Twigs' upcoming album can't be found in the pages of any dictionary. But the musician has laid out the full definition of the term in an art trailer ahead of the album's release, which is apparently set to drop on September 13.
You-sex-wa, Pronounced /yo͞oˈ seks yo͞oˈ ä/, it’s an adjective used to describe an all-consuming, exhilarating emotion. “Eusexua is like, ‘I’m that bitch,’” one person explains in the album’s promotional video. The minute-long clip is a montage of eccentric, model-like characters exploring their own definition of the term Twigs. “Eusexua takes over your persona,” another adds. Another likens the feeling to “shiny rose petals on my skin,” while others explain how Eusexua can be a shared emotional experience.
“Have you tried EUSEXUA?” Twig asked on social media while announcing the album. “Discover September 13th.” The time stamp on the musician’s official website reads: “05:00:00, 14.09. 24, London.” She previously previewed the album during a listening party in New York City.
Osixoa This marks Twigs' first full-length album release since 2019. Magdalene This is followed by the release of her 2022 mixtape WhimsHer musical comeback comes after she dropped dozens of leaked songs last year. “I got hacked and someone leaked 85 of my demos. Good job, haven't released any new music in a while,” she wrote on Instagram Stories in October.
When Twigs started up again, she moved to Prague and discovered a gold mine of inspiration for what has since become Osixoa“I moved to Prague two summers ago and fell in love with techno music,” she wrote on Discord earlier this year. “The album isn’t techno but the soul is in it.” Twigs described the album’s tone as “deep but not sad,” adding: “I’m not sad anymore.”
