Foodtopia Cast & Character Guide

Foodtopia Cast & Character Guide

From the minds of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Conrad Vernon, Sausage Party: Foodtopia is a comedy series and sequel series to their 2016 adult animated feature, Sausage Party. The show follows a group of grocery store foods who set out to build their own thriving food society, aptly called Foodtopia, beyond the confines of the supermarket, Shopwells. The series recently dropped all its episodes on Prime Video and picks up directly where the film left off. After taking over the grocery store and overthrowing the humans, known as humeys, a sausage named Frank leads the others to the ultimate utopia.

However, when a thunderstorm washes away everything they’ve built and destroys many of its inhabitants, he and the others realize they’re going to need the help of at least one human in order to survive. Now inhabiting the stores of the nearest empty strip mall, the food attempts to move forward with their new society. Just as raunchy as its predecessor, Sausage Party: Foodtopia doesn’t waste any time living up to its ridiculous reputation. Full of eclectic, foul-mouthed characters, the series most certainly warrants a breakdown of the most important foods at the heart of the show as well as the actors who voice them.

Seth Rogen as Frank

Voiced by Seth Rogen, Frank is the sausage at the core of the series, responsible for discovering and exposing the truth about what really happened when food left the supermarket. Now the de facto leader behind the concept and efforts of the food’s ultimate paradise, he’s rather levelheaded when compared to the others and does his best to do what’s right for the greater good of Foodtopia.

Seth Rogen made his acting debut in 1999 with the NBC show Freaks and Geeks. He is one of the creators of Sausage Party: Foodtopia and serves as an executive producer of the series. In 2023, he voiced Donkey Kong in the children’s animated film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and he is currently an executive producer on Prime Video’s original show The Boys.

Kristen Wiig as Brenda Bunson

A sexy hot dog bun and Frank’s love interest, Brenda is voiced by Kristen Wiig, and lies at the center of the series just like Frank. Always by his side, the pair work together to do what’s best for Foodtopia. Level-headed like her boyfriend, she and Frank are the only ones who realize just how important it might be to keep a human around in order to teach them about the world they know nothing about.

Kristen Wiig is a Saturday Night Live alum and is known for her quirky brand of humor. In 2021, she and Annie Mumolo co-wrote and co-starred in the well-received comedy Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar. She currently plays Maxine on Apple TV+’s Palm Royale, which was recently renewed for a second season.

Michael Cera as Barry

Voiced by Michael Cera, Barry is a deformed sausage, and one of Frank’s closest friends. He remains hellbent on destroying any humeys still alive. A bit of an adrenaline junkie, he takes numerous risks to save the lives of other food whenever they’re in danger. His stature might be smaller than the rest, but his spirit is greater than most.

Michael Cera is known for his awkward, yet endearing, style of acting. Having starred alongside Seth Rogen in numerous films, including Superbad, This Is The End, and Sausage Party, Cera is no stranger to comedic films. Arguably best known for his portrayal of Evan in Superbad, his recent stint as Allan in 2023’s mega-hit Barbie could likely surpass such recognition.

Edward Norton as Sammy Bagel Jr.

Voiced by Edward Norton, Sammy is a neurotic Jewish bagel who acts as the group’s MC throughout the series. Haunted by the memory of his enemy turned friend, Kareem, a Middle Eastern lavash who died in the film, Sammy continues to reminisce on the good old days as he does his best to leave the past behind. In an effort to quell his pain, he attempts to make the others laugh via stand-up comedy.

Edward Norton has been nominated for three Academy Awards for his roles in Primal Fear, Birdman, and American History X. He’s known for playing an array of multifaceted characters. His most recent roles include Conrad in Wes Anderson’s 2023 film, Asteroid City, and Miles in the Rian Johnson Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion.

Sam Richardson as Julius

An orange with quite an ego, Julius is voiced by Sam Richardson. He collects the teeth of dead humeys as a way to garner control within Foodtopia. He continues to stake his claim throughout the strip mall as he slowly takes over each store. A gangster of sorts, the arrogant orange isn’t anyone’s real friend.

Sam Richardson is known for his comedic roles as well as his writing. In 2017, he co-created and co-starred in Comedy Central’s Detroiters alongside Tim Robinson. He played Edwin Akufo in Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso, which earned him an Emmy win, and recently co-starred in Hocus Pocus 2 as Gilbert, the owner of Olde Salem Magic Shoppe.

Will Forte as Jack

The only human among the sea of food, Jack is voiced by Will Forte and is definitely not the smartest of humans. In fact, he’s rather dim. However, given his basic knowledge of the world, he’s extremely valuable to the food. After he’s overtaken by Frank and the others, he’s tied up without any hope of escaping. Thankfully, what he knows just might save him from the wrath of Barry and the others.

Will Forte is a Saturday Night Live alum whose recurring character, MacGruber, was eventually adapted into a feature film in 2010 and a limited series in 2021. In 2015, he created and starred in Fox’s sitcom The Last Man on Earth, where he earned multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his acting and writing. He recently starred in the Netflix series Bodkin as Gilbert and appeared in Part Two of That 90s Show as Kiefer.

Every episode of Sausage Party: Foodtopia is currently streaming on Prime Video.
